Pastor Delgado Biography

Pastor Alberto Delgado, who was born in the Island of Cuba, is marked by one of the greatest children's exodus to the United States of America, "The Peter Pan Program" which brought over 14,000 minors from the island without their parents.

At the age of fifteen (1962) the life of Pastor Delgado was abruptly changed, he went from living with his parents and siblings, to live with about 500 other minors of different cultures in the now famous camp "Matecumbe" in Miami; later to be moved to an orphanage in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Those were very difficult times for the young Alberto who had to wait 5 years to see his parents again, which were not allowed to come to the U.S.

When he left the orphanage his passion for the art of singing and music took him to California, hoping to be "discovered". Nevertheless, things didn't turn out as he had hoped for and found himself hungry and without money. Looking for a way out, he joined the U.S. Army.

In 1969, his passion for music was yet intact, and so, he started his career as a percussionist in a musical group in Chicago; but the bohemian nightlife drove him towards the destructive life of drugs and alcohol.

Delgado, who grew up as a Catholic who believed in Christ in his own way, and would kiss the book of the Bible every night, did not know that one of his own fellow musicians, who was a born again Christian, would constantly pray for his salvation. And so, one day in the year 1974, Pastor Alberto Delgado, alone in his hotel room, opened the Bible for the first time and fell on his knees asking God for forgiveness, receiving Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. This was the turning point in his life.

Immediately after having this powerful personal encounter with the love of Jesus Christ, Pastor Delgado changed his life radically; he stopped using drugs at once, left the negative environment that surrounded him and found work as a pharmaceutical products seller where he was able to develop his gift as a communicator.

However, God had started a fire inside Alberto that was far from extinguished, and so, his thirst for God took him to study the Bible at "The Faith Tabernacle Teaching Center of Chicago", then to "The Chicago Bible College" and later to "The RHEMA Bible Training Center" (headed by one of the greatest teachers of faith of our time, Pastor Kenneth Hagin) in Tulsa, Oklahoma; where Pastor Delgado graduated in the year 1979 only to begin his life as a missionary in South America.

The missionary labor of the now renowned Apostle Delgado is definitively worthy of recognition, not only for the unfavorable and remote environments that surrounded him, but for the number of churches and Bible Institutes he founded throughout Latin America.

In 1985, Pastor Alberto Delgado came back to Miami, Florida, with the strong desire to establish a church where the word of God and the message of faith would be preached, so, with only 20 members, the first "Alpha and Omega" tent was set up in South Miami. Soon after this, the church grew to 100 members, which confirmed that the Lord had blessed the work that was born from a great dream.

Later, the church was moved to a commercial area in Little Havana in Miami and they rest is a history of God’s power and faithfulness.

Today, 20 years later, God has enlarged this great labor of Pastor A. Delgado, his wife Mariam Delgado and two children; to a church of more than 5000 members and a sanctuary that opens its doors to about 2000 people per service. The church is located at Miller Rd. & 79th Avenue in Miami-Dade County, right off (826) Palmetto Expressway.

Continuing his study of faith and the word of God, Pastor A. Delgado completed a Master's Degree in Arts and a specialization in Christian Counseling in Jacksonville, Florida. Also, in

1995, he graduated from Logos Christian College with a doctorate's degree in Theology.

Pastor A. Delgado's goal is to expand the kingdom of God to the world. Today, the ministries of Alpha & Omega Church have spread internationally to over 50 churches in countries such as Cuba, Guatemala, Argentina, Mexico, Nicaragua, Belize and various states in United States.

Radio, television and magazines are important tools by which the word of God is spread to the world and with the help of his wife Mariam, this ministry is quickly growing to impact the world.

Today, "Alpha & Omega" is a church of miracles, based on absolute faith, where everything is possible if you can believe and where the family and the word of God are fundamental.
